Playdates

For the past couple of years, I have been surrounded by pregnant women. The total number of baby showers I have been to over the past 18 months is 26. . .okay, three of those showers were for me, but that is still a lot of babies - and there are several more showers on the calendar!

I was really excited to find out that some of our close friends were expecting a baby around the time that Cora was due. Our due dates, according to the doctors, were July 4th for Patrick and Katherine and July 5th for little miss Cora. God has a great way of working things out because we delivered our children 2 days apart. Tyler came on June 22nd, and Cora decided to arrive on June 24th. . .I'll just throw in the fact that June 24th is the exact day I predicted as my due date. . .I'm not a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!!

Then, this spring, we met one of our neighbors who, of course, was also expecting. She delivered her daughter, Olivia, on June 23rd. I was worried that there would be no young children around in our neighborhood for Cora to play with. But, yet again, God worked things out for Cora to have a friend right down the street.

Right now, the playdates mainly consist of the ladies gabbing and comparing notes. . . It's nice to have ladies around who are in the same place as I am. I suppose all too soon, we'll be chasing little ones around, but right now it's nice just to chat and to know that someone is right there with you during those frustrating moments!
