The Magic Blanket

The hospital where we delivered has many fabulous volunteers that work there. Most appear to be women past retirement age who choose to spend a few hours a day helping out in various capacities. As we were being wheeled out of the hospital to go home, some of the volunteers came up to me to meet Cora. (Grandmas love babies!) One of the very kind ladies had a basket full of blankets that the volunteers knit for new babies. It was so sweet of them to allow me to pick a blanket to take home for Cora.

I will admit that initially, the blanket got shoved into the dresser nestled among other blankets that to me seemed much more appealing to wrap her in. However, this blanket slowly worked its way to the top of the stack. In my desperation one evening, I grabbed the blanket and wrapped Cora tightly and began trying to calm her - a la The Happiest Baby on the Block. Then, what do you know. . . it worked! This is the only blanket that seems to have such a calming effect on her. I have tried wrapping her in other blankets at night, but it just seems that this one calms her and keeps her asleep longer. I have taken to calling it her magic blanket. I know that rationally it cannot actually be magic, but, man the evidence is overwhelming! I'll take a picture of her in it and upload it soon.
What did I tell you. . .totally magic! Cora sacked out on another blanket on our ottoman.

Blythe and David each have one blankie that they love. I was a blankie girl so cora might end up only liking one blanket. When she gets a little older and can lay on the floor I hope she likes the blanket I made for her!
